The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 and its rules (collectively, “COPPA”) require us to inform parents and legal guardians (as used in this policy, “Parents”) about our practices for collecting, using, and disclosing personal information from users under the age of 13 (“Children”, or in the singular “Child”). It also requires us to obtain verifiable consent from a Child’s parent for certain collection, use, and disclosure of the Child’s personal information.

This policy only applies to Children under the age of 13 and supplements the other provisions of the Privacy Policy.
Terms that are defined in the Privacy Policy have the same meanings as used in this Privacy Policy for Children Under the Age of 13.
Information We Collect from Children. Children can access many parts of the Website and its content and use many of its features without providing us with personal information. However, some content and features require us to collect certain information, including personal information, from them. In addition, we use certain technologies, such as cookies, to automatically collect information from our users (including Children) when they visit or use the Website.
We only collect as much information about a Child as is reasonably necessary for the Child to participate in an activity, and we do not condition his or her participation on the disclosure of more personal information than is reasonably necessary.
Information We Collect Directly. A Child must provide us with the following information to register with this website: the Child’s first name, birth date, gender, postal address, a parent’s email address, and a parent’s telephone number. We also require the Child to create a member name and password. We may request additional information from your Child, but this information is optional. We specify whether information is required or optional when we request it.
We record user voices, including those of Children, to (1) facilitate the learning process, and (2) improve the accuracy of our speech recognition services. When these audio recordings are used to facilitate the learning process, they are linked to identifying personal information, such as the Child’s member name and other personal information collected upon registration. These audio recordings that are collected to facilitate the learning process will be retained by us during the period that the user’s account is an Active Account. An “Active Account” is an account associated with a user who has (1) paid for services through the then-current date and (2) accessed the Website within the past one (1) year. These audio recordings that are collected to facilitate the learning process will be deleted within thirty (30) days after the account ceases to be an Active Account. We also share these audio recordings with a third-party (see Operators That Collect or Maintain Information from Children section below) in order to improve the accuracy of our speech recognition services. This third-party is bound by contractual or other obligations to use the audio recordings and related information only for such purpose and to keep the information confidential. These audio recordings are deleted by the third-party Operators, as defined by COPPA, within thirty (30) days of the third-party receipt of the audio recordings.
